About Me

Max Chaiken has been a song leader, Jewish song writer and educator for about 8 years, and has spent the last five summers working as the Head Song Leader for the URJ Camp Harlam.

Between graduating high school and coming to Brown, Max was one of the students in the Carmel Program at the University of Haifa and the Leo Baeck Education center in Haifa, Israel where he first started to write original Jewish music.

More recently, he has also taken to writing a blog, Social Jewstice, focused on progressive politics, Judaism and everything in between.

After graduation this spring, Max plans to enter the world of Jewish music and Jewish music education full time, moving to Boston to become part of the Temple Beth Shalom community in Needham, MA as a music educator.
